There Is No Mountain is a new project from the Portland-based duo that brought you the americana-pop group The Ascetic Junkies. Their first single “Owl Hymn” is a bit more indie without losing their bluegrass/folksy roots, and catchy to boot. They’re offering it free for download on their bandcamp.

PS-If you’re not familiar with The Ascetic Junkies, check out their music here. Their intelligent, fun, bluegrass-tinged pop sound *will* get lodged in your brain. You’ve been warned.

Tilly and the Wall is an indie rock/pop group from Nebraska. Best known, of course, for opting to use a tap dancer on most songs, instead of a drummer.
I love this band, they have a certain appeal. They may not be for
They are finally releasing a new album this fall, the first since 2008.
Check out this video for the song, Bad Education.
I Was Awake:
This is a band from Boston, that doesn’t have nearly as many fans as they should.
The have a great sound, which is indie progressive rock, and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Throwback Thursday: Fear Before
Let’s talk Fear Before The March of Flames.
This experimental rock band from Colorado, is currently inactive, but don’t count them out just yet. There is always a chance they will make more music together.
After 4 successful albums, several on Equal Vision, they still exist in the list of my top bands.
After 3 albums, they dropped the “the March of Flames” from their moniker, and were hence forth known as simply, Fear Before.
Check out their wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear_Before and go to Amazon and purchase all the albums. No really. Purchase. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Also, check out All Human, which is Adam Rupert of Fear Before’s new musical project.
Adam Fisher, also of Fear Before can be heard on the amazing ORBS album, Asleep Next to Science.
Ticktockman:
This alternative rock outfit from Seattle is one of the best i’ve heard. Formed from the ashes of another band, Ticktockman holds members from Gatsbys American Dream and Wild Orchid Children.
The style of rock is mind blowing. Great guitar riffs, awesome drum work, and amazing lyrics. If you like the Mars Volta, you’ll love Ticktockman.
Hail The Sun:
These guys are an alternative, progressive rock band from California.
You should check out Hail The Sun’s 5 song EP, Elephantitis.
I don’t think you will be disappointed.
For fans of: Circa Survive, I the Mighty, The Speed of Sound in Seawater
I the Mighty, one of my favorite alternative rock bands in existence, recently signed to Equal Vision records, and put out an amazing EP, Karma Never Sleeps, and are currently at work on a full length.
One of the best things about this band, is the originality, and the dedication they have. They care about the fans, they care about putting out quality music.
You can get the first EP, Hearts and Spades for free @ bandcamp
Fireflies is a UK based experimental, indie rock project of one Reece Warburton.
Very soothing, talent filled music.
Please check out this amazing project on Facebook, HERE.
For this weeks Throwback, let’s talk about Envy on the Coast.
This Long Island alt rock band had all the makings for success in a big way: a cult following, catchy tunes, and charisma.
After 2 fairly successful full length albums, and an EP, Envy on the Coast called it quits. For any number of reasons, many selfish, I wish they hadn’t.
Their final full length, Lowcountry, was honestly one of the best albums of 2010.
Castielle is progressive rock band born and bred from the indie scene in Memphis, TN.
Their sound encompasses a wide variety of genres, being compared to bands such as Coheed, Circa Survive, Rush, and Dredg.
This debut LP is a very impressive start for this band, and if all goes well, you should be hearing more about Castielle in the coming years.
I love these guys. Corporate Fandango is a ska band, with a progressive twist. Think RX Bandits.
This North Carolina band is on the rise, and touring all the time. Check out the most recent EP “Lunch Money“
FFO: RX Bandits, Streetlight Manifesto, The Aquabats

Indie, ambient, post-rock. Feather Oars is a band from Tennessee. It would seem that their influences include: As Cities Burn, Manchester Orchestra, Explosions in the Sky, etc.
Check out a free or pay what you can song, HERE.
FFO: Brand New, As Cities Burn, Colour Revolt
One of my favorite bands to see live, Colour Revolt manages to capture a indie southern rock sound, without getting stale.
I’ve personally seen this band a few times now, and they never disappoint. I would recommend their newest album, The Cradle, which you can purchase here: http://goo.gl/Uh5GI
For fans of: The Snake The Cross The Crown, Manchester Orchestra, O’Brother
